a poem by Hila Shachar →
I can’t believe someone posted one of my poems. I’m unworthy, but thank you. alphabetbones: The day begins in a pose of defence ducking and weaving, searching for a bench. It fills my bones with the itchiness of a guarded arm cupping the face in an angular embrace. The bench can be found with a hot butter knife to slice through the bones and unhinge the heaviness of angles.

breakfastcookie: This is something that happened to a friend of mine in her own words. “So, on Friday night my friend and I were at her house and wanted to get out and do something for the evening. We brainstormed ideas and she brought up the idea of seeing a show at the Laugh Factory. I’d never been, I thought…

Reasons to not vote for Tony Abbott
It scares me that this man may be our next Prime Minister. Please Australia, come to your senses, this man is everything that’s wrong in our culture. Here are a few horrific words straight from his mouth: “I think it would be folly to expect that women will ever dominate or even approach equal representation in a large number of areas simply because their aptitudes, abilities and...

"Misogyny" by Stephen Wright for Overland Journal
It’s news to me that the number of women in boardrooms is a marker of social equality and of justice. Likewise, if feminism in the West has outlived its usefulness, if we’ve reached mission accomplished, then I’m Mrs Beeton. I had always understood feminism as not just a way of reworking socioeconomic relations, but as a rewriting of understandings of power, relationship, identity, and knowledge...

Yes, I'm a Feminist. No, I'm not Perfect →
iamateenagefeminist: It seems like every time I get into a debate with a white dude, they have some expectation that I have to be a perfect feminist in order to be a feminist. If I’m not perfect, they automatically assume that I am hypocrite. This is so ridiculous and it pisses me off to…
